Nothing says as much about a community’s future as the places it preserves to reflect its past. Whether they’re apartment or industrial buildings with cultural significance, or natural features or objects important to the city’s planning or social history, properties for Goleta’s Historic Preservation Project that “reflect important themes in Goleta’s growth and development” are being sought out, beginning with a public meeting to be held Wednesday, December 7, 6:30-8:30 p.m. at City Hall (130 Cremona Dr., Ste. B).
Property types from before 1969 can be considered, though exceptions may exist, in the citywide survey being conducted by contractor Historic Resources Group. The city hopes to identify places that have contributed to the character that makes up Goleta and its historical development, and to raise awareness of their existence.
