Drawing on his decades of exploration and storytelling, Shive shares behind-the-scenes accounts from his extensive career documenting the wild—stories of adventure, science, and human connection that reveal how our nation’s public lands and ocean sanctuaries shape not only our environment but our identity.
Through breathtaking footage and intimate moments from his acclaimed films—including Hidden Pacific IMAX 3D, discovery+’s The Last Unknown, and his current project for Mission Partners Entertainment Group, an Untitled Wetlands IMAX 3D film —Shive illuminates the intricate web that binds people to place, wilderness to culture, and conservation to hope. His work invites audiences to consider the future of America’s last wild frontiers and our shared responsibility to protect them.
This presentation offers a rare glimpse into the making of large-format IMAX and natural history films, where storytelling meets exploration—and where the wild still thrives.
