Row of Life is a feature documentary following renowned ocean rower, Marine Corps veteran, three-time Paralympian, and fourteen-time Guinness World Record holder Angela Madsen as she attempts to row solo and unassisted across the Pacific Ocean from Los Angeles to Hawaii.

This exclusive advanced screening, presented ahead of the film’s official release later this spring, offers audiences an early look at a powerful and intimate story of endurance, risk, and love, capturing Angela’s relentless pursuit of the unknown and the unwavering support of her wife, Deb, from across the vast ocean. The screening will be followed by a special Q&A diving into worst-case scenarios at sea, featuring former FBI/CIA investigator Tom Parker, ocean rower Adrienne Smith, a U.S. Coast Guard representative, and director Soraya Simi. Here’s an overview of our panel of Santa Barbara locals:

• Director Soraya Simi is an award-recognized director and producer whose work spans feature documentaries, branded films, and global commercial campaigns for world-class talent and audiences. Her Oscar-considered debut feature ROW OF LIFE, executive produced by 2× WNBA Champion Sue Bird, marks her as a rising voice in cinematic, character-driven stories of endurance, identity, and resilience.
• Ocean Rower Adrienne Smith is an ocean rower who has spent extended time at sea, navigating both physical extremes and profound mental challenges. She is also the owner of Power of Your Om yoga studio and speaks powerfully about resilience, presence, and lived experience on the water.
• Former FBI/CIA private investigator Tom Parker is a retired FBI Special Agent who spent over two decades rising to Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the FBI’s Los Angeles Field Office, where he led major criminal investigations, including organized crime and high-profile homicides. After retiring, he founded an investigative consulting firm and has worked as an expert investigator and commentator on complex death investigations, criminal procedures, and law enforcement practices.
