Support the Garden for the next Century

2026 marks Santa Barbara Botanic Garden’s Centennial Anniversary and celebrates 100 years as the first botanic garden in the United States dedicated exclusively to native plants. The Garden’s century-long story reflects resilience, innovation, and a deep connection to community. Centennial Community Days carry that legacy forward by reducing barriers to access and creating opportunities for more people to experience California’s native plants and habitats firsthand.

Visitors who enjoy a free Sunday are invited to help make future access initiatives possible by donating, becoming a member, volunteering, or sharing the Garden’s work with others. Every gift supports the Garden’s conservation, scientific research, environmental education, horticulture, and community engagement. Visit SBBotanicGarden.org.

About Santa Barbara Botanic Garden

As the first botanic garden in the nation to focus exclusively on native plants, Santa Barbara Botanic Garden celebrates 100 years of conservation leadership and work to better understand the relationship between plants and people.  Founded in 1926, the Garden has grown from 13 acres to today’s 78 acres, featuring more than 6 miles of walking trails, a library, a public native plant nursery, and a Conservation Center that is home to various programs, including research labs, an art gallery, an herbarium, a lichenarium, and one of the largest seed banks in California. Amid the serene beauty of the Garden, teams of scientists, educators, and horticulturists remain committed to the original spirit of the organization’s founders — to conserve native plants and habitats so they continue to support life on the planet and can be enjoyed for generations to come.
