The past Presidents of the Santa Barbara Women’s Political Committee (SBWPC) are
hosting the annual event in celebration of Women’s History Month. This year, the theme
is A Feminist 2025 Playbook, A Call to Action. The SBWPC strongly believes that
women have fought tirelessly for social, economic, and political progress, and refuse to
be pushed backward.
The public is invited to attend the event to be hold on March 21, 2025, from 4:00 to
6:00 PM at the Goleta Valley Community Center. The keynote speaker will be
Professor Jane Ward, Chair of the UCSB Feminist Studies Department who will provide
a feminist framework through which to address the growing concerns many women
share about the current administration’s implementation of the ultra-conservative and
regressive Project 2025—a policy blueprint from the Heritage Foundation.
After the opening remarks, attendees will join tables of 8 to participate in lively
discussions of key issues with a facilitator and local experts and resource persons. Table
topics include immigration, reproductive justice, education, lgbtq rights, and climate
change to mention a few. Each group will explore strategic actions to counter harmful
policies and then report out on recommended actions at the close of the program.
The SBWPC hopes for 120 attendees and aims to identify individual and group actions
that will support enhancing the status of women through targeted advocacy efforts. For
