The Carpinteria Valley Museum of History concludes its 2026 Talk & Talkback Speaker Series with a timely talk on the history of the Avocado Festival. 40 Years of Carpinteria’s California Avocado Festival by historian Sara Killen will dive into the origin of the festival, how it has changed over time, and what the festival means to Carpinteria.
“We’re looking forward to hosting Sara Killen for a deep dive into the Avocado Festival in Carpinteria. The festival, known for ‘Peace, Love & Guacamole,’ is one of the largest public events in town each year, brings thousands of visitors to Linden Avenue, and has a decades-long history that should be both fun and surprising for attendees,” explained Jayme Yahr, director of the museum. “We welcome everyone to attend the event, support the museum, and learn more about all things avocado.”
The 2026 Talk & Talkback Speaker Series is hosted by the Carpinteria Valley Museum of History. 40 Years of Carpinteria’s California Avocado Festival will be held on Friday, Sept. 25 from 6 to 7 p.m. at the museum, 956 Maple Ave. in downtown Carpinteria. The talk is free for members of the museum and $10 per person for visitors. Ticket sales at the door.
