The 5Rhythms® is an awareness practice rooted in the principle that if you put the body in motion it will heal itself. Movement is both the medicine and the metaphor, reaching across all languages, cultures and age groups to transform suffering into art, art into awareness and awareness into action. The 5Rhythms® come together to create a Wave.
In this 5 part series we will take a deep dive into exploring each rhythm as Each one offers a gateway into seeing how you connect to certain energies. Aspects of yourself that have been undercover will surface as you dance. The practice of how to meet the shadow with curiosity and activate the light with your movement will enrich your connection to living a dynamic existence!
In the rhythm of FLOWING We practice Continuous grounded movement, rolling with inspiration, practicing receptivity, fluidity and inner connection. The shadow is inertia and resistance
In the rhythm of STACCATO we connect to The fire and passion, the edges and angles, practicing clarity, precision, direction and connection to other. The shadow of staccato is tension and rigidity.
In the rhythm of CHAOS, we practice Letting go, allowing the movement to happen with out knowing what’s next, honing our resonance with trusting our self, our body, and practicing a wild freedom and connection to the larger group. The shadow to Chaos is confusion.
In the rhythm of LYRICAL we practice Lightening up, opening to the spaces inside that were created by the letting go in Chaos. We soften to the trance states of bliss and integrate connection to self, other and group. Practicing the ability to shape shift perspectives. The shadow of lyrical is distraction.
In the rhythm of STILLNESS, The space holder of all the rhythms, we explore the depths of slow movements moving out into the expansive reaches. Stillness is Divinely connected to breath and body, a practice in feeling and integrating in the pauses and being with sensations of wholeness. The shadow of stillness is numbness.
