The weekend of July 17-19 will be a national commemoration of the passing of Civil Rights icon John Lewis, called Good Trouble Lives On. “Good trouble” means coming together to take peaceful, non-violent action to challenge injustice. This year’s Good Trouble action will focus on voting rights, honoring Lewis’ legacy by organizing, educating, and speaking truth to power.
Good Trouble will live on in Santa Barbara on Saturday, July 18,11:00 am-1:00 pm, when we will gather on the beach-side sidewalk of Cabrillo Boulevard for a demonstration celebrating Lewis’ life, words, and legacy.
Take action: Mark your calendars and join ISB and other community groups for the Good Trouble demonstration on July 18. Check our website and social media for further updates about this event and related activities.
In the meantime, we continue to gather to protest for democracy every Saturday morning from 10:00 am – noon at State Street and Hitchcock Way. Our Saturday morning demonstrations will include joining together on July 4th when we will celebrate 250 years of building and preserving democracy in America.
