The Abstract Art Collective (AAC) is excited to announce their virtual Art Talk with artist and teacher Melinda Cootsona on Thursday, October 8, 2020 at 11:00 am PT. She will be discussing approaches to abstraction and elements of design for abstraction and figurative work.

Ms. Cootsona is greatly influenced by the Bay Area artistic tradition in which her paintings focus on the strength of the female figure. Created with layers of oil paint, applied and then scraped away, her paintings reveal figures that fill the canvas in varying poses of contemplation or reflection in abstracted surroundings. Whether in a soft or harsh surrounding, the strength of the female figure is primary. Her work has been included in many museum exhibitions throughout the United States and she has participated in multiple group and solo shows throughout the country. Her work can also be found in collections throughout Europe, Australia and China in addition to the United States.

Ms. Cootsona received her BA from the California College of the Arts. She has been teaching painting to students of all levels for over 20 years and actively providing eCourse instruction since 2012.

The public can register to attend the virtual event via Zoom at aacpublicrelations@gmail.com.
