Come experience The Adelfos Ensemble’s captivating performance on Tuesday, May 30th, “Two Masses for Three Anniversaries.” Enjoy the classic Renaissance beauty of William Byrd’s Mass for Four Voices and the profound expressions of Frank Martin’s Mass for Double Choir. The three anniversaries we are marking are the death of Byrd in 1623, the premier of Martin’s work in 1953, and the 15-year leadership of our ensemble (since 2008) by artistic director Temmo Korisheli.

The Adelfos Ensemble’s goal is to offer to audiences in the Santa Barbara area the best choral repertoire, with an emphasis on a-cappella works, through live performances, radio broadcasts, and recordings. The group programs a broad repertoire of music spanning more than a millennium, from ancient chant and Renaissance motets to folksong arrangements and contemporary compositions. The Adelfos Ensemble exists to explore the wide world of choral literature and, as the Santa Barbara News-Press observed, to “move right and left of center in the choral tradition.”
