Santa Barbara native Aidan Woodruff presents his junior recital on May 22 at 7:00 p.m. in Lehmann Hall at the Music Academy of the West. Admission is free, with donations gratefully accepted at the door.

A third-year undergraduate at the University of California, Los Angeles, Woodruff studies under Professor Ben Hong and has been an active participant in the Santa Barbara classical music community from an early age. He will be joined by colleague Nathan Carterette in a program featuring works by Johannes Brahms and Dmitri Shostakovich.

Aidan Woodruff first met pianist Nathan Carterette in 2019 while attending a music festival in Minnesota, beginning a musical collaboration that has continued through multiple performances over the years. Praised by critics as “wonderfully poetic” and “exuberant yet sensitive,” Carterette has performed internationally in venues including Weill Recital Hall, the Gasteig in Munich, and universities such as Berklee College of Music and the Cleveland Institute of Music. A graduate of Yale University and recipient of a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Iowa, Carterette currently serves on the faculty of the Nevada School of the Arts. Their upcoming recital at Music Academy of the West marks the third performance collaboration between Woodruff and Carterette.
