Join us for an incredible visit by guest artist Alisa Weilerstein, 2011 MacArthur “Genius Award” winning cellist on Thursday, February 2, 2023! The day starts with a Cello Masterclass at 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Karl Geiringer Hall (UCSB campus, Music Building) featuring solo performances by talented UCSB students Andrew Hart, Lost, and Ivan Law. Enjoy works by Cassadó, Britten, and Andrea Casarrubbios.
Later that same day, at 4:00 pm, don’t miss the Symposium hosted by Jennifer Kloetzel, UCSB Professor of Cello and Head of Performance and String Area. Join her for a Q&A with Alisa Weilerstein as they celebrate the west coast premier of FRAGMENTS and delve into the cellist’s innovative programming and commission choices.
