New Beginnings Counseling Center will present a dramatic stage reading at the New Vic Theatre of “Food And Shelter”, a fanciful and heartrending story of a homeless family who spends a night at Disneyland. Written by Jane Anderson, the Emmy award winning writer of “The Wife” and “Olive Kitteridge” and directed by longtime Santa Barbara friend and award-winning director Jenny Sullivan, “Food And Shelter” details the struggles of a homeless family living in their car and offers the audience a unique perspective into issues that are experienced by a vehicular homeless family.  Cast include Joe Spano (NCIS, Apollo 13, NYPD Blue, and Fracture), Eric Lange (Victorious, Los, Narcos, and The Bridge), Chris Butler (Designated Survivor, Rescue Dawn, The Good Wife, and King & Maxwell), and Faline England (9-1-1, The Mentalist, Station 19, and Valentine’s Day)

This is a wonderful event for community members to learn about the important programs of New Beginnings and will directly benefit programs that help homeless, veterans and families in our community.

“Food and Shelter” is heart-wrenching…Jane Anderson relentlessly presses her point that nothing like the events on stage should be happening in such a wealthy country” VARIETY
