Experience Santa Barbara’s past through architecture. Join us in a small group walking tour of the downtown area led by knowledgeable docents of the Architectural Foundation of Santa Barbara.
On the Domingo (Sunday) tour, see the historic art and architecture of downtown Santa Barbara as it was reborn after the 1925 earthquake. From the Public Library and its famous murals, stroll through La Arcada Court and up State Street, experiencing public art, hidden courtyards and fountains, the histories of the Arlington and Granada Theatres, and other architectural delights.
The tour focuses on architectural styles, significant and historic buildings, aesthetics, past and present usage, landscapes, and history. View various architectural traditions and Santa Barbara hallmarks, including ornate tiles, wrought iron detailing, stonework, balconies, arches and lush paintings, and explore hidden courtyards and secret fountains, all at a leisurely pace.
The Domingo Tour departs every Sunday at 10 a.m and generally finishes by noon. Meet at the Santa Barbara Public Libary Plaza. Rain cancels tour. $20 tax-deductible donation/person.
