S.B. Community Arts Workshop

Santa Barbara, CA – Art KIT (Know Important Tools) is a workforce education program, now in its second year, developed and hosted the Santa Barbara Arts Collaborative. This program is part of SBAC’s mission to help artists thrive in our community. Art KIT is aimed at serving artists in Santa Barbara County and the surrounding area. We aim to support the creative economy by helping artists to integrate solid business practices thus removing barriers to success.

The first workshop of the year will focus on Career Planning and Successful Time Management. Whether you are an emerging artist looking to find your niche or a seasoned artist wanting to pivot your career, Art KIT offers camaraderie, feedback, and practical exercises to help you get on track, change your track, or build a new one. This two-hour workshop is designed to support artists in planning the next steps in their career as well as addressing the difficulties of balancing studio time and everything else. Participants will learn practical skills, engage with fellow creatives, and dive deep into the blocks that keep us from our work. Madi Manson, fine artist and business owner of Loudflower Art Co will join the group to share her experiences as a printmaker and a business owner.

About the Presenters:

Art KIT is facilitated by Adrienne De Guevara, sculptor, social practice artist, and programs and fund development manager for the Santa Barbara Arts Collaborative. De Guevara is an experienced group facilitator, fundraiser, and art administrator. In 2023 she was a recipient of the California Central Coast Creative Corps Individual Fellowship award. She is a primary collaborator at MISC Workshop in Santa Barbara, CA and is an avid community organizer focused on the arts.

Madi Manson is an artist and small business owner who, born and raised in Ojai, has called Santa Barbara home since 2016. She runs and operates Loud Flower Art Co, an emotionally screen printed line of apparel and homegoods with designs that help people feel their feelings and know they are in community with that work. In 2023, she opened 506 E Haley St with her husband Ben Bishop. 506 is Loud Flower’s screen printing studio along with retail shop, photography and art book gallery, and community gathering space. She is on the organizing committee for Off Register: Santa Barbara’s first Art Book and Print Fair which debuted at CAW in Nov 2024.
