117 De la Guerra Street
On May 4 First Thursday from 5:00-8:00 pm, Kathi Scarminach will have a solo art show reception at Elsie’s Tavern 117 West De la Guerra entitled “Things Are Going to Get Easier: Abstract Art that Tells a Story. The show will run for the months of May and June. The abstract work on view is displayed as visual storytelling. Multiple layers of the non-representational translation into a myriad of stories. which levitate beneath the surface. The cacophony of colorful self-expression offers the potential for an individual yet shared emotional experience between you and the artist and between you and the other viewers.
Elsie’s is a funky grungy neighborhood bar that hosts art exhibitions that change monthly. CASH is only here and this exhibition will be more of a party than a stuffy art show. Every wall is painted a different color and there is a pool table, ping pong machine, and a Pac-Man retro video arcade game. Plenty to do besides admire her artwork. Mention that you are there for her art show and get $1.00 off your drink. Kathi is donating the proceeds to the UCSB Thriving Initiative where she facilitates art and writing workshops as a resource for healing. https://www.thethrivinginitiative.org
