Santa Barbara Public Library and UCSB’s Las Maestras Center invite you to a public lecture by artist and activist, Melanie Cervantes.
While Cervantes will be spending most of her time at UCSB, this special event offers the broader community an opportunity to engage with her work and ideas.
Based in the Bay Area, Cervantes is an artist and activist whose work is deeply rooted in and inspired by her communities’ vision for social transformation and collective change. Through her art, Cervantes uplifts themes of justice, identity, and community empowerment.
Her work has been exhibited at renowned institutions, including The Huntington, the Oakland Museum of California, the Museum of Latin American Art, among many others.
This engaging talk offers a unique opportunity to hear directly from the artist about her creative process, influences, and the role of art in advancing social change.
