A perfect summer baseball read.
Even those who don’t know baseball, have probably heard of Jackie Robinson. But what about Larry Doby, the second (and first American League) Black player in baseball? His story, along with Satchel Paige, the famed former Negro Leagues player who didn’t make his MLB debut until he was 42, Hall of Fame pitcher Bob “Rapid Robert” Feller, and showman/owner Bill Veeck combine to form a wonderful story about the 1948 Cleveland Indians, the last time that team won a World Series.
