After nearly three years of hard work, Carpinteria-based folk-rock artist Beau James Wilding is set to release his third full-length studio album on April 21 at brewLAB in Carpinteria.
Beau is legally blind and the album, entitled “seeing i god” is a pun on seeing eye dog. Themes such as transcending imperfection, grief, determination, and what it means to make the most of this one precious life are explored. Some examples of tonal touchstones are early Rollins-era Black Flag (e.g., the Damaged album), and early Planxty, e.g., the Black album.
The record was recorded using instruments associated with traditional Irish folk (bodhran, violin, and Irish Bouzouki) as well as some dirty electric guitars for contrast. The album will be available for streaming on all major digital platforms and will be available for purchase on 12″ vinyl at the event. Beau will be joined on stage by live sound partner Tom Kenny on Shruti box and bodhran.
