If you are curious about what happened to Montecito with the fire and then the flood, this is the hike for you. The plants have come back fairly well from the fire, but the creek has been scoured.
The trail follows the creek mostly in the shade of the oak woodland. If we are lucky, we will make it to the falls. There is still water in the creek now. We always joked that when the water stops there is still blue from the Lobelia dunnii, but the creek was scoured. There were golden ear drops along the creek which we had not seen before, so there is no telling what we might see!
It’s 3.7 miles round trip with 1,150 foot gain to the falls. For more information call Andrea at (805) 886-4382.
Park and meet at the end of East Mountain Drive off Park Lane in Montecito.
