Got photos? Help the Carpinteria Valley Museum of History build its collection!

On Thursday, April 10 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the museum, 956 Maple Ave. in downtown Carpinteria, the museum will be hosting a free photo scanning event. Anyone can bring one  to 10 hard copy photographs, 8” x 10” or smaller, to the museum. On the spot, the museum will scan the photo. Everyone gets their hard copy photo back and a digital copy to take home. Digital copies will also become part of the museum’s permanent collection of photographs.

“It might be a surprise to many that the museum’s collection has gaps that need filling,” said Jayme Yahr, the museum’s director. “The museum is low on images from the 1980s through the 2000s. Family parties, parades, summers at the beach, businesses, or school days are great places to start. Any family-friendly, Carpinteria-related image is welcome.”

No reservations necessary. The event is free and open to all. For questions, call (805) 684-3112, email info@carpinteriahistoricalmuseum.org, or visit carpinteriahistoricalmuseum.org.
