Chumash Cultural Project Open House

The City of Santa Barbara Parks and Recreation Department will host an open house for community members to learn more about a project designed to celebrate and honor Chumash culture, history, and heritage at Ambassador Park, a site connected to the historic Chumash village of Syuxtun.

Developed through years of collaboration with Chumash community members and the California State Coastal Conservancy, the preliminary design includes native and ethnobotanical landscaping, interpretive elements, gathering spaces, and a walking path. Community members will have the opportunity to view project plans, learn about the design process, provide feedback and speak with project staff about the next steps in the planning process.
