Coalition Against Gun Violence will host a fundraiser and celebration with special guests that include three Santa Barbara ER doctors who will deliver a talk entitled “Doctors In Their Lanes” on their personal experiences treating victims of gun violence.
The National Rifle Association infamously stated that doctors who comment on the issue of gun violence should “stay in their lanes.” Federal law prevents the Center of Disease Control from researching the impacts of gun violence, despite the fact that 40,000 Americans lost their lives to gun violence in 2019.
The event will include a silent auction and presentations from elected officials and dignitaries representing Santa Barbara.
Tickets are $90 and proceeds support Coalition Against Gun Violence Annual Gun Buyback.
CAGV chair Toni Wellen will be honored at the event for her 24 years of service.
