Community Memory Digitization Project – Eastside Library

 

Preserve your memories and celebrate your stories with the Santa Bárbara Public Library! We invite the entire community to participate in our Community Memory Digitization Project, designed to help you safeguard cherished photographs, artwork, school projects, videos, and music recordings.Summer Digitization Event

 

Pictures & Homework (Paper-Based Materials That Can Be Scanned)

How many times has your child brought home beautiful school artwork, and you wished you could keep it but simply didn’t have the space? No worries, bring it to us! We will help you preserve those special creations in digital format while freeing up space at home.

 

Community members may drop off photographs, artwork, and paper-based school projects to be digitized from June 21–27 at the Eastside Library.

 

At drop-off:

 

• Patrons will label their materials using library-provided labels.

 

• Patrons will sign a release form acknowledging that the library is not responsible for potential damage, provided materials are in standard condition.

 

• The number of items per patron will be limited (final number to be announced) to ensure equitable access for all participants.

 

All original materials will be returned within a 3 – 4 week turnaround period, with pickup scheduled for August 1. At that time, patrons will also receive a USB drive containing their scanned images.

On August 1 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., we will host a welcoming café-style gathering at the Eastside Library, offering a warm and celebratory space for participants to retrieve their materials. Reminder notifications will be sent via email and announced in the local newspaper prior to the pickup date.
