For Parents & Teens (6th-12th grade).

Talking about alcohol isn’t easy. Get the conversation started. Leave with tools to keep it going. A panel of teens, parents, counselors, experts  and community members will provide a Q&A to discuss current substance use trends and provide tips to encourage teens to make healthy choices.  A special presentation by Edith Perez, Tobacco Preventionist, will discuss current issues and trends around vaping.

Did you know that the substance most used by teens in Santa Barbara County is alcohol? Did you know that youth who start drinking before age 15 are six times more likely to develop alcohol dependence later in life than those who being drinking at or after age 21? Lend your voice to this important conversation and join us for our annual town hall meeting! Parents have the greatest influence on teens’ decisions to drink or not drink alcohol.

Made possible with collaboration and funding from the following groups and agencies: Council on Alcoholism & Drug Abuse, Office of Traffic Safety, California Friday Night Live Partnership, Santa Barbara County Friday Night Live Program, Bishop Diego High School, San Marcos High School Friday Night Live chapter, Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration
