Confessions of a Pulpiteer

Confessions of a Pulpiteer is a 1-man autobiographical show by Lee Boek, a fundamentalist evangelist during the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s, whose life took a turn into secular activism and theater.

Described by the San Francisco Chronicle as “A foot stompin’ hallelujah show about life at the crossroads of politics, religion & liberation” this show promises to be lively, participatory, and fun while asking us to consider a deeper message about style vs. substance. It will be performed in the sanctuary of the Live Oak Unitarian Universalist Congregation at 820 North Fairview Avenue, Goleta, on Sept 19 at 3pm.

Lee Boek is an actor, playwright, producer, storyteller and poet was known as Brother Lee Love of the Survival Revival Hour on KZAP-FM radio in Sacramento before moving to LA.

He was awarded The Joe Hill Award by the Labor Unions of Southern CA, and has been a a staple part of the Southern California arts communities. Lee has been the Artistic Director of Public Works Improvisational Theatre since 2001 and has produced and performed in nearly every production of the company since then.

Lee continues to be on the forefront of accessible, socially-relevant performing arts productions and can be found in theater and poetry/storytelling events all over LA.
