The UCSB Department of Music with Arts & Lectures presents special guest and world-famous Indian drummer Zakir Hussain. Zakir Hussain will give a talk and demonstration with UCSB music community on November 15, 10:00 am at Kerr Hall Studio.
The pre-eminent classical tabla virtuoso of our time, Zakir Hussain is appreciated as one of the world’s greatest and most influential musicians, one whose mastery of his percussion instrument has taken it to a new level, transcending cultures and national borders. Along with his legendary father and teacher, Ustad Allarakha, he has elevated the status of the tabla both in India and around the world. Esteemed as a groundbreaking collaborator, composer, educator and cultural ambassador, he has made an extraordinary impact on the music world as he continues to inspire the next generation of artists.
