Center Stage Theater

Ojai-based contemporary dance company Dev Dance Theater will present its first run of Santa Barbara performances with Hearts & Daggers at Center Stage Theater on February 9th, 10th, 17th, and 18th, all shows at 8:00 p.m.  Produced by Devin Fulton and Natasha Heeszel, this anti-Hallmark Valentine’s show is a wildly theatrical evening of live contemporary dance and film. Founded in 2017, Dev Dance Theater is comprised of eight female dancers who consistently engage audiences with performances that are by turns hilarious, heartbreaking and daring. This brand new show explores the many experiences in life that both fill and break our hearts, and whether the thought of Valentine’s Day leaves you feeling more “hearts” or more “daggers,” it will all surely delight the senses.

Hearts & Daggers features choreography by founder/director Devin Fulton (credits include Colbie Caillat, Dear White People, Brooke Frazier, WB Network, LA Contemporary Dance Company) , the world-renowned Nicholas Palmquist (credits include “Saturday Night Live,” “The Tonight Show,” American Dance Machine, Broadway Dance Lab, Steps on Broadway, and Vogue), Melissa Schade (credit include Arcade Fire, Diplo, Todrick Hall, Vogue, Abercrombie.) Hearts and Daggers also includes original short films featuring the dancers, with cinematography by Natasha Heeszel.

Dancers include Devin Fulton, Chereese Mackey, Oceane McCord, Ashley Maher, Brittney Nevison, Sacheen Swan, Olivia Valdellon, and Sarah Zermeno.

The mission of Dev Dance Theater is to bring the full spectrum of human experience to life onstage, to tell stories of challenge, growth, and love through elegant, raw, and heartfelt dance performances. With each original show they produce, Dev Dance Theater creates the opportunity for their audiences to laugh, cry, and heal in a communal space.
