El Encanto Lunch + Architecture Tour

This summer, El Encanto by Belmond invites guests to experience the rich architectural legacy and refined culinary offerings of one of Santa Barbara’s most iconic hideaways. Introducing the California Getaway: Lunch & Architecture Tour, a curated experience blending aesthetic exploration with a gourmet lunch—offered on the third Saturday of each month from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM.

Nestled high in the hills with sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean, El Encanto is a sanctuary of style and serenity. The hotel’s historic grounds offer a unique interplay between two classic Southern California architectural styles: California Craftsman and Spanish Colonial Revival. This new experience offers guests the rare opportunity to go beyond the facade with an expert-led tour and gain insight into the design, vision, and cultural significance that shaped this celebrated estate.

The tour begins with a scenic stroll through El Encanto’s gardens and grounds, guided by a knowledgeable architectural historian. As guests wander the winding pathways and verdant terraces, they will uncover the stories behind the hotel’s early 20th-century origins, its distinctive dual architectural influences, and the visionaries who brought them to life. From hand-laid tile roofs to artisan woodwork, every detail holds a connection to California’s rich design heritage.

Before the tour, guests are invited to savor a sumptuous lunch at The Dining Room + Terrace, El Encanto’s signature restaurant. Known for its locally inspired menu and breathtaking views, The Dining Room + Terrace offers an all-day menu featuring a seasonally driven culinary experience that reflects the spirit of the region. Guests are encouraged to reserve a 1 PM seating, ensuring they can enjoy their meal at a relaxed pace before joining the tour.

The architecture tour convenes at 2:30 PM on the Pacific Lawn, where the group will gather to begin their immersive walk through El Encanto’s architectural narrative. This unique pairing of culinary indulgence and cultural enrichment makes the experience an ideal addition to a California getaway, a memorable date, or a special gathering with friends.

A lunch reservation is required and can be made online at belmond.com/elencanto. Guests are encouraged to make their lunch reservation no later than 1:30 pm. When booking your lunch reservation, please specify “Architecture Tour” in the booking notes section to secure your place on the tour. Space is limited to ensure an intimate and engaging experience.
