The next meeting of the Santa Barbara Rose Society is on Thursday, Sept. 12, 2019 from 7 – 9 pm at Trinity Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall, 909 N La Cumbre Road at Foothill in Santa Barbara. This month’s topic is “Got Rose Questions? Ask a Consulting Rosarian!” a special panel presentation by American Rose Society Master Rosarians Dan Bifano and Bud Jones plus Consulting Rosarians Hetty Shurtleff, Carrie Cooper and Deb Habr. This is a special opportunity to have a conversation with renowned experts about choosing, growing and arranging beautiful, fragrant roses!
Have you ever wondered what rose experts do in their own gardens – and why? Learn tips from the pros! Puzzled over which roses grow best in Santa Barbara and which hate our conditions? Wondering what the experts feed their roses? What are the easiest, disease-resistant, no-brainer roses for our area? Are there drought-tolerant roses? Which roses have that amazing fragrance? What garden roses are best for bouquets and arrangements? What about pruning? Heritage roses? Is it smart to buy and plant bare-root roses in January? Join us to learn answers to these and many other questions.
Santa Barbara Rose Society meetings are FREE. We invite everyone to come at 7 pm to socialize and sample our refreshments before the 7:15 Little Rose Show and 7:30 pm speaker presentation. Our motto is “Come for the Roses; Stay for the Friends.”
Guests are welcome! If you grow roses, please bring your cut roses to show off and any rose plants you would like to share. We also welcome goodies for our refreshments table and items for our fun raffle.
