Graduate cellist Chenoa Orme-Stone will present a virtual lecture recital, titled “Cello Teaching Methods: An Analysis and Application of Pedagogical Literature,” in partial fulfillment of the Doctor of Musical Arts degree on Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at 6 pm as a YouTube Premiere via the Department of Music’s YouTube channel. The program will include cello duets by Friedrich August Kummer, Jacques Offenbach, and Jean-Baptiste Barrière, and will feature performances by Orme-Stone’s cello students. Orme-Stone is a student of UC Santa Barbara Assistant Professor Jennifer Kloetzel.

About the Artist

Cellist Chenoa Orme-Stone is a doctoral candidate at the University of California, Santa Barbara. She holds a Master of Music from the Royal Danish Academy of Music and a Bachelor of Music from Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. Her teachers included Jennifer Kloetzel, Morten Zeuthen, Emilio Colón, and Marc Coppey, as well as members of the Pacifica Quartet, Danish String Quartet, and Calder Quartet. She has been invited to perform in masterclasses for such distinguished cellists as Yo-Yo Ma, Astrid Schween, Martin Menking, David Geber, Eric Kim, and Anthony Elliot. In addition to performing, Chenoa has extensive teaching experience and maintains a full studio of private cello students. She has also taught at schools and music education programs such as UCSB, Santa Barbara Symphony Music Education Center, Santa Barbara Strings, Lotus Chamber Music Festival, Westmont Academy for Young Artists, Copenhagen International School, and Seattle Music Partners.
