The Carpinteria Valley Museum of History’s Talk & Talkback Speaker Series continues with a lively interview-style event at 5 p.m. on Aug. 19. History of Radio with Carpinteria Valley Radio will feature panelists and radio hosts Peter Bie and Dennis Mitchell in conversation with Bryan Mootz of Bryan’s Radio Lunch Truck. The trio will explore aspects of the history of radio, how the medium of radio has changed over time, some memorable moments of “life in radio” and the founding of Carpinteria Valley Radio.
“This style of event—truly a talk and talkback—will be fun and informative for everyone! We’re looking forward to this conversation which will cover the ways that radio has changed over the decades, how Carpinteria Valley Radio took shape and continues to support the community and what it’s like to be ‘on air,’” explained Jayme Yahr, director of the museum. “We welcome everyone to attend the event and check out the museum’s new exhibitions along the way, which happen to feature a Zenith radio.”
The 2026 Talk & Talkback Speaker Series is hosted by the Carpinteria Valley Museum of History. History of Radio with Carpinteria Valley Radio will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 19 from 5 to 6 p.m. at the museum, 956 Maple Ave. in downtown Carpinteria. The talk is free for members of the museum and $10 per person for visitors. No rsvps. Ticket sales at the door.
