Taking place under the oak trees along Mission Creek, The Lower Lodge is excited to announce our 4th annual, Poetics of the Handmade, seasonal makers’ market. Nestled between the Old Mission and the Natural History Museum, this historic property will host a thoughtful market featuring artists, makers, delicious food, and music. “Give the gift of goods homegrown, handcrafted, and heartfelt.”

This year, the importance of the handmade is even more poignant, after a year and more of social distancing, the intimacy of things handmade reminds us of our humanity. There is no better time to support our local artists and makers.

The Lower Lodge will be selling ceramics and hand-dipped beeswax candles. Cache-Cache Vintage will have an amazing collection, from jeans to one-off pieces. Jennifer Morris will be returning with beautiful sculptural fruit stands, baskets, and vases. We welcome Shepherdess Holistic Hides, who runs a wildlife grazing project to help fire mitigation in the Ojai Valley. She will be selling her lush humane and ethically made sheepskin. We also welcome Pura Luna Apothecary. Other returning makers include Bonnie Longino, known for her playful ceramic people, Lorah Stone and her hand-printed pattern pillows, Fold, with her handcrafted linens, and Jos Ceramics. A few new artists and makers include Zoe Ortiz with beautiful hand-sewn mini-quilts and sweet up-cycled fabric scrunchies and Hannah Anderson whose explorations include 3-D printed ceramics and painterly glazes.

Our food pop-up is Majak Mamas, making special African Bento Box, and their daughters, Lulu (of Lulu’s Granolas) and Achok will be collaborating on a special breakfast bowl. Dune Coffee will be here too with a coffee cart for your cozy morning fix.

The Brambles will serenade us between 11-1 pm.

Plus a free craft table for children.

Please join us for this day of merriment!
