Another “Inspire Popup” is planned for 5 to 8 p.m. Dec. 17 at Night Lizard Brewing Co., featuring art and craft entrepreneurs, musicians, authors and a music video.
Theme of the event is “Our Home Our Planet.” Admission is free. Local musicians and songwriters Penny Little and David Segall will perform. Segall will screen his latest video “A Touch of Love.”
Former Summer Solstice Celebration Executive Director and visual artist Claudia Bratton will display her Miss Tickle Hat Co. Styles.
Bratton’s series of koi fish, with her posters, serigraphs and originals have sold around the world, and her works have appeared in galleries in Los Angeles, New York, and Santa Barbara.
And, local author Bonnie G. Kelm will discuss her books and career. She is a former federal art project director. She also worked as a university art museum director and professor of art history and museum studies at three major universities.
She now designs and sells art jewelry and wearable art through her company Bella Kaye Designs and exhibits her photography.
Kelm also has a new book, “La Conchita: A Different Kind of Paradise.” The author mixes historic fact with humor, poetic speculation, historic vignettes, in a style related to the quirky, iconoclastic character of La Conchita, a small community between Santa Barbara and Ventura.
Each entrepreneur will give a short talk on what inspired them to do their work.
This is the third such event organized by Little. She was signed as a singer songwriter to Warner Brothers U.K. Prior to that she toured Japan as a singer and schools in Hawaii with her “Bach to Rock Program.
Little has recorded on numerous albums and toured the United States, U.K., Europe, and Japan with various musical projects of her own and other musicians. She also is an author and visual artist.
A Santa Barbara High School and UCSB graduate, Segall has since toured across the United States and Europe. The guitarist and keyboard player performs roots-rock and soul calypso music with audiences of all ages and backgrounds. He and his four-piece backing band recently were the mainstays of the Earth Day Festival, Summer Solstice Festival, Avocado Festival and Harbor Festival.
