UCSB Men’s Soccer to Take on Club America U20s Sqaud at Peabody Stadium
International soccer returns to Santa Barbara, as the UCSB Gauchos take on the Under-20s from Mexican powerhouse Club America at Peabody Stadium at Santa Barbara High School on Friday, March 22, at 7:15 p.m.
Club America, as an institution, is the winningest team in the history of Mexican soccer with 14 league championships, and over the past years has developed some of Mexico’s top talent like Cuauhtemoc Blanco, Guillermo “Memo” Ochoa, Edson Alvarez who is currently playing for West Ham United in the EPL and many others.
“Playing a game against an international opponent is always a great learning experience for our players at UCSB,” Gaucho head coach Tim Vom Steeg said. “Having the game played at a downtown location against a team with such a historic tradition as Club America makes the game even more exciting and should be an enjoyable experience for soccer fans in our community to come watch.”
Come cheer on the Gauchos as they get ready to battle it out against some of Mexico’s top young professionals.
“In my opinion, this could be the soccer game of the year,” match organizer Rudy Ybarra said. “Soccer fans do not miss this opportunity to watch this top-level soccer game.”

Pre-sale tickets will be sold at $20, and tickets on Day of Game at $25. There will also be VIP Field Seating available at $75, and only 100 seats shall be available at that price.
