James Ehnes, violin
Orion Weiss, piano
Program: To Be Announced
Violinist James Ehnes has established himself as one of the most sought-after musicians on the international stage, widely celebrated for a rare combination of breathtaking virtuosity and unforced lyricism—an artist whose playing can command a hall in a whisper as surely as in a blaze of sound. A two-time GRAMMY Award winner with an acclaimed discography, Ehnes is also a devoted chamber musician and the Artistic Director of the Seattle Chamber Music Society. He performs on the legendary 1715 “Marsick” Stradivarius, an instrument whose luminous voice seems made for the Lobero’s warm intimacy.
He is joined by pianist Orion Weiss, an Avery Fisher Career Grant recipient and Gilmore Young Artist Award winner whose artistry combines clarity, imagination, and exceptional insight. Known for stepping into big moments with calm authority—including his Boston Symphony Orchestra debut at Tanglewood as a last-minute replacement—Weiss brings both electricity and finesse to the collaborative stage. Together, these longtime duo partners turn chamber music into true conversation: two virtuoso voices, one shared musical mind. Program to be announced.
