Child Abuse Listening Mediation (CALM) presents a special Celebrity Authors’ Luncheon to raise awareness and funds for its programs and services to prevent and treat child abuse and to promote healing. Jo Giese is among nearly a dozen best-selling authors attending the 2019 event with Andrew Firestone, heir to the Firestone Tire empire, serving as the master of ceremonies. Individual tickets are $150 each with sponsorships starting at $1,000 for the Post Laureate level. Books will be available for purchase and signing. Jo Giese is an award-winning radio journalist, author, teacher, community activist, and former TV reporter. As a special correspondent, she was part of the Peabody Award winning team at Marketplace, the popular public radio business show. At Marketplace she won an EMMA for Exceptional Radio Story from the National Women’s Political Caucus and a GRACIE from the Foundation of American Women in Radio. She has contributed to Ira Glass’ This American Life, and is the author of A Woman’s Path ( St. Martin’s Press), and The Good Food Compendium (Doubleday). Giese has written for scores of publications, including The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Vogue, LA Weekly, European Travel & Life, and The Malibu Times.
