A full two years after the Emancipation Proclamation, the enslaved ancestors in Texas learned of their freedom. In honor of their defiant survival and liberation, we celebrate by reclaiming our joy.

Come enjoy food, music and community!

“The people of Texas are informed that, in accordance with a proclamation from the Executive of the United States, all slaves are free. ”
