Plug into community through music – have fun singing and playing music with your new friends, while learning something different every week…
In this ongoing *all-level* workshop, women & nonbinary folks will learn the fundamentals of guitar, bass, ukulele and more (each participant can select one of these instruments to play).
Participants will have the opportunity to meet other local musically-inclined women and connect socially as well as musically. We will periodically have (optional) performances, giving the participants the opportunity to showcase what they have learned.
When: nearly every Wednesday from 5.15 to 6.45pm
Where: a central location on State St., email for details
Cost: $15 to $25 sliding scale per session (pay what you can), and the scale can slide down further if needed— I want it to be accessible to everyone. Please bring cash for that (we don’t take Venmo), thanks!
Bring: Please bring your instrument and a music stand if you’d like to. I’ll provide the materials (chord charts, song books, etc…).
What you’ll learn:
- – learn how to play and sing popular songs together
- – the common structures and progressions of popular songs
- – how to transpose songs into different keys to accommodate their own vocal ranges
- – how to improvise and play simple solos
- – how to begin to play by ear
- – how to play music with others
- – and more…
