2nd Fridays Art is pleased to announce our annual juried exhibition Nip it in the Bud.
This annual juried competition tickles the senses presenting work in multiple media from over thirty artists. Attend this exhibit and enter a metaphorically scented garden of floral perspectives. The concept of flower here runs from the abstract to the sublime with color, drama and layers of meaning.
To nip something in the bud literally means to remove a part of the flower to stop it from growing any larger. Metaphorically, “nip it in the bud” can be used in reference to stunting any type of potential growth, and doesn’t specifically apply to plants.

JUROR of AWARDS:
FRED LEHTO
The multi-talented artist arrived in Santa Barbara in 1976 with a B.F.A. from Wayne State Univ., Detroit, Michigan.
Fred discovered “photography light painting” in 2021, where he creates photographic images using different colored light sources. He sets these light sources in motion and captures the resulting images.
The artists career includes working for decades at the Music Academy of the West, lead roles at the S.B. Civic Light Opera, Garvin Theater and The Genesis West Theater Group. Fred is also a current board member of the S.B. Art Association and a member of the Abstract Art Collective in Santa Barbara.
All artists receptions are open to the public
Celebrating art + people.
Featuring new artists on the 2nd Friday of the month.
