Come tour the recently restored North Campus Open Space, a 100-acre wetland and upland restoration project located on a former golf course!
Learn about the benefits of wetland restoration including reducing flooding, improving water quality, adapting to sea-level rise, and bringing back native plant communities and wildlife. This will also be a great birding opportunity!
Implemented by UC Santa Barbara’s Cheadle Center for Biodiversity and Ecological Restoration (CCBER), this project began construction in January 2017 and opened to the public in September 2018.
Meet at 6975 Whittier Drive in the parking lot and walk over bridges and trails to see the newly restored upper arms of Devereux Slough and expanded floodplain.
For more information or to RSVP, please email ncos@ccber.ucsb.edu.
This event is part of Santa Barbara’s 20th Annual Creek Week.
