Three local photographers will gather at Elverhj Museum of History & Art for a panel discussion about approaches toblack and white photography. The range of possibilities offered by the medium will be discussed, from images inspired by the pioneers of photography to fresh interpretations that digital techniques allow. Creating a fine art quality black and white print is very different from taking a color photograph, notes fine art photographer Paul Roark. The input of the artist in translating the color scene to black and white is usually as important as the subject itself. Roarks photographs are on display in the current Elverhj art gallery exhibition, Between Light & Dark, which runs through April 14th. For the discussion, Roark will be joined by photographers George Rose and Christopher Brown. Each of this trio brings a different perspective to the genre. The event is free and the public is invited to join in the discussion. A social hour will follow with light refreshments served.
