The Santa Barbara County Green Party will host a People’s Town Hall with Dr. Butch Ware, the Green Party’s candidate for Governor of California, on Sunday, April 19, 2026, from 2 to 6 p.m. at St. Michael’s Episcopal University Church, located at 6586 Picasso Road in Isla Vista.
Designed as an open, interactive community conversation not a candidate-centric rally, the event’s centerpiece is an extended open Q&A for participants to dig deeper into Ware’s From Crisis to Care campaign which is built on a human rights foundation and a simple premise: California’s crises in housing, healthcare, education, climate, and justice are solvable, but only if government is wrested from corporate control and placed back in the hands of working people.
There will be no scripted questions, no rope line, no performance by a politician, but rather a format reflecting the campaign’s core principle: a people’s agenda
“We’re not bringing a politician to Santa Barbara to talk at people. We’re opening a door for our community for a dialogue with someone who’s actually listening,” said Donna Pulling, Santa Barbara County Green Party organizer. “Dr. Ware’s platform speaks directly to the crises we, our neighbors, all of us are living through — housing we can’t afford, healthcare we can’t access, the climate disasters they can see coming. This is a chance to be part of something real.”
In addition to the Q&A, attendees can look forward to live music, community partner tabling, and voter registration. The People’s Town Hall with Dr. Butch Ware is free and open to the public. RSVPs (GPSBCo.inquiry@gmail.com) are appreciated but not required. Attendees are encouraged to carpool, rideshare, bike, or walk to the event site as parking is limited.
