Pico at the Los Alamos General Store Restaurant Continues ‘Explore the Central Coast Winemaker Series’ on August 26, 2021with Au Bon Climat

Pico at the Los Alamos General Store continues the series “Explore the Central Coast Winemakers” on August 26, 2021. Seating for the three-course paired meal is available by reservation from 5:00 – 8:00 PM.

The loss of our friend, Jim Clendenen, has us still reeling: we were so looking forward to having Jim at the restaurant to speak to each of you about his wines but are pleased that Isabelle and Marisa Clendenen will be with us. These two plus the entire team behind this legendary wine company are continuing the tradition that Jim created.

The featured wines are Au Bon Climat Chardonnay, Bien Nacido ‘Special K’ Vineyard, Santa Maria Valley, 2018; Pinot Gris/Pinot Blanc/Aligote, ‘Hildagard’, Santa Maria Valley, 2018; Pinot Noir ‘Isabelle’, Santa Maria Valley, 2018 and a final pour as a surprise.

For those of you not familiar with Au Bon Climat and Jim Clendenen, this is an excellent opportunity to learn about one of the Central Coast pioneers of winemaking and what makes Jim a legend. For those of us who knew and loved Jim, this is an opportunity to come together to celebrate his wines, talk story, and enjoy the ambiance a gathering like this creates.

Unlike the wine dinners where guests sit together at one long table, the evening at Pico is designed for guests to reserve private tables between 5:00 and 8:00 PM inside the rustic setting or out of doors in the expansive garden. Marisa will visit guests with each pour, discussing the merits of the wine and answering questions.

Pico chef John Wayne Formica has planned a unique three-course menu paired perfectly with each wine following Pico’s ethic of simple ingredients, sourced from local farms committed to sustainable practices.
