Pico at the Los Alamos General Store Restaurant Continues ‘Explore The Central Coast Winemaker Series’ on May 27, 2021
Pico at the Los Alamos General Store Restaurant continues “Explore the Central Coast Winemaker Series” experience on May 27, 2021. Seating for the three-course paired meal are available by reservation from 5:00 – 8:00 PM.
The second wine in the series is Lumen with winemaker Lane Tanner, pairing her 2019 Lumen Pinot Gris Sierra Madre Vineyard, 2017 Lumen Grenache Martian Ranch Vineyard (pre-release) and 2019 Lumen Pinot Noir Julia’s Vineyard wines.
Winemaker Lane Tanner was the first independent female winemaker in Santa Barbara County, and the first to dedicate her entire winery to Pinot Noir. A pioneer in the Santa Barbara County wine region, Lane’s knowledge of the Santa Maria Valley dates back to her first vintage in 1981, as oenologist for Firestone. She later made wine for Zaca Mesa and the Hitching Post, and finally under her own label from 1989 – 2009. Her wines are notable for being low in alcohol and sulfites, a practice that she continues to this day. Lane holds fast to her winemaking philosophy – scores be damned. Her wines were always more old-world in style, and built for aging gracefully. Ironically, her winemaking style has now come back into vogue.
Guests will not only enjoy Lumen wine and Pico cuisine, Lane will speak to each of them as each wine is poured.
Pico chef John Wayne Formica has planned a three course menu to pair perfectly with each wine following Pico’s ethic of simple ingredients, sourced from local farms committed to sustainable practices.
The first dinner sold out. Reservations are available at: https://www.exploretock.com/picolosalamos/experience/279977/wine-dinner-with-lane-tanner?date=2021-05-27&size=2&time=12%3A00
