Long-time Carpinteria resident and alumni of Carpinteria High School, Cody Duke Anderson, has composed a symphonic suite that will have its first live performance on December 4, 2022. The piece is entitled “Carpinteria Suite” and will be performed by the Santa Barbara City College Symphony Orchestra at the Garvin Theater.
The piece was composed during Covid for performance via Zoom, and the final product was posted to youtube (Cody Anderson Carpinteria Suite – YouTube). Cody’s music was inspired by the natural beauty of Carpinteria, reflected in the first movement “Poem for a Sunrise,” as well as his walks on the bluffs which inspired “The Lonely Ship at Sea” and the critters he saw along the way (“March of the Royal Squirrels,” “Empire of the Seals,” “Waltz of the Great Egret,” and “Golfing Gophers.”)
