InTouch Health was a Santa Barbara born-and-bred company, founded by UCSB alumni, with the mission of transforming healthcare through telehealth and robotics. In early 2020, the acquisition by Teladoc for $600M was announced, and just 6 months later, it closed at over $1 Billion, making it one of the largest acquisitions in Santa Barbara history. Joe DeVivo was CEO of InTouch in the years of growth leading up to this highly successful exit.

During this Ventech talk, Joe will discuss his history as an executive, what led him to become CEO of InTouch Health, and the challenges and rewards on the path of growth towards an exit. Joe will talk about the journey to acquisition, both before and after. How the deal came to be, what it took to negotiate it, what happened before, during and after the closing period, and his subsequent tenure as President of Teladoc’s Hospital & Health Systems (HHS) division, until his recent retirement. Finally, Joe will discuss the influence of the pandemic on telehealth, and the future of virtual care.
