Elings Park and UCSB’s Award-Winning Naked Shakes Present Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet Under the Oaks

ROMEO & JULIET

September 10–12 at Godric Grove Amphitheater

Elings Park invites the community to experience one of the world’s greatest love stories as UC Santa Barbara’s award-winning Naked Shakes presents William Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet beneath the majestic oaks of Godric Grove Amphitheater. Directed by acclaimed theater artist Irwin Appel, performances will be held Thursday and Friday, September 10 & 11 at 5:00 p.m. and Saturday, September 12 at 3:00 p.m.

Known for its bold, actor-driven performances and minimalist staging, Naked Shakes brings Shakespeare’s legendary tale of love, fate, and family rivalry to life in a way that is both intimate and powerful. Set against the natural beauty of Elings Park, audiences will enjoy an unforgettable outdoor theatrical experience where the language, emotion, and timeless themes of Shakespeare take center stage.

“Godric Grove provides a truly magical setting for live theater,” said David Velazquez, Director of Operations of Elings Park. “We’re thrilled to partner with Naked Shakes to bring this exceptional production to the Park and offer our community the opportunity to experience world-class Shakespeare in one of Santa Barbara’s most scenic outdoor venues.”
