Join Santa Barbara Public Library and Joan Hunter Mayer for a compassionate gathering dedicated to honoring the deep bond between people and their companion animals.

Losing a companion animal is a profound loss. Research shows that grief following the death of a pet can be as intense as grief after losing a human loved one—yet many people struggle in silence due to stigma or lack of support. Your grief is real, valid, and deserving of recognition.

This group offers a compassionate, non-judgmental space where participants can process grief at their own pace. Together, we share, listen, support, and connect. You are invited to speak if and when you feel comfortable—there is no pressure to share, and all emotions are welcome.
