This year’s Santa Barbara Writers Conference (June 18 to 23) features 5 authors as the conference’s evening guest speakers.  Sunday’s Speaker, Monte Schulz published his first novel, Down By The River, in 1990, and spent the next two decades writing Crossing Eden, an epic novel of the Jazz Age. He has taught writing and literature in the College of Creative Studies at UCSB, where he earned his M.A. in American Studies. Metropolis is not only a dystopian narrative of love in a time of war and moral disintegration but also a meditation on the meaning of virtue and goodness in the face of the most monstrous crimes. He lives in Santa Barbara and Hawaii.  There will be a book signing after the talk.
